Colouring the streets of Glasgow
July 30th, 2007 Posted by Andrea
Celebratory Brahmas were free flowing the night of the completion of the Liverpool leg of our street art collaboration series. Feeling understandably pleased by what he and Sam Skinner had accomplished, our resident artist abroad Speto and I stayed up till the wee small hours reflecting on this amazing cultural jam we’ve been so fortunate to find ourselves a part of.
But then it was time to get back on the road again as Speto and I set off next morning bright and early towards our final destination and my home turf Glasgow, where we were met by our next collaborator, artist and designer, Andy Steel.
Andy set about his floral paint explosion with incredible energy – a truly inspirational sight to behold. While Speto concentrated on weaving the love affair between his two characters that gaze out at each other from adjacent windows.
As with our experiences in London and Liverpool, the developing urban masterpiece was greeted with so much positivity from passing members of the public that it not only drove us on towards the best possible end result but really made me wish there were more unexpected bursts of colour like this around our inner cities. Here’s hoping next year will bring even bigger and brighter art installations celebrating the spirit of TrocaBrahma.
