Brasil Brasil on BBC4 9.00pm Fri 30th

If you’ve enjoyed the Trocabrahma 07 events and podcasts, check out the new series on BBC4 that started last Friday. Brasil Brasil is a three-part series on BBC4 and covers the history and evolution of Brasilian music. The episodes will cover traditional styles like samba and folk music from the North East, the Tropicalia era and its stars Gilberto Gil, Os Mutantes, who featured in episode 1, of or podcast and Caetano Veloso. The final episode of the TV series will cover urban music in the major cities and include Sao Paulo the host city for the Brasilian leg of this year’s Trocabrahma events in Brasil.

If you’ve enjoyed artists like Os Mutantes in podcast episode 1, Tita Lima in episode 2, Romulo Froes in episode 3 and the current Brasilian band-de-jour Bonde Do Role in episode 6, then you’ll find plenty to keep you hooked on all things Brasiliero in this series.
