OPEN FIELD CHURCH

ELECTRONIC WIZARDRY AND LOVED-UP CHORAL SERENADES FROM FOURTET MEETS OPEN FIELD CHURCH:

Sao Paulo’s coveted Open Field Church is an intimate collective of Brasilian musicians who collaborate live with the likes of Belle & Sebastian; and who warmly peddle “ultra special reunions of friends around uplifting experiences”.
Inspired by Japanese folk-punks Maher Shalal Hash Baz (from whose ‘Open Field’ song their moniker originates), and helmed by charismatic maestro and cultural archivist Eduardo Ramos, Open Field Church are a precious, exquisite endeavour.
They perform English cover versions of seminal tracks from Brasilian stars such as Jorge Ben and Gilberto Gil – alongside startling renditions of underground pop hits from the likes of Flaming Lips – and refer to their glorious, spontaneous live shows, quite rightly, as “invasions”.
