DOWNTOWN SAMBA-JAZZ AND INNER-CITY SOUL FROM TITA LIMA MEETS BEN WESTBEECH (HOSTED BY GILLES PETERSON):

An astral Bristolian wunderkind – for whom ‘music’ equals grubby funk, muscular jazz, lambent hip-hop and inner-city soul – multi-instrumentalist and elysian groove seducer Ben Westbeech has just dispatched his debut album, Welcome To The Best Years Of Your Life, via Gilles Peterson’s brand new Brownswood Recordings imprint. (Indeed, Westbeech’s debut single, ‘So Good Today’, was the label’s inaugural release).
Westbeech’s vivid lyrical palette is readily gaining global props from the likes of Gilles, Fabio & Grooverider and Pete Tong: his uplifting soul treatises (‘Get Closer’ and ‘Dance With Me’), offset brooding jungle jams (‘Taken Away From’ and ‘Pusherman’), to propagate a brilliant, hedonistic portrait of young urban Britain.
